The South Pasadena Unified School District is seeking proposals (“Proposals”) from qualified parties (“Respondents”) who are interested in acquiring property located at 1020 El Centro St, South Pasadena, CA 91030 known generally as the District office (“Property”) which is more particularly described in the RFP.
The Education Code requires the District to follow a specific procedure to dispose of surplus District Property which includes a public competitive bid process. However, the District is seeking a waiver from the California Department of Education which will allow the District to use an alternative “Request for Proposal” procedure in which the District seeks proposals from any party interested in acquiring the District Property pursuant to the conditions set forth in the District’s Request for Proposal (“RFP”). Thus, the District’s disposition of the Property pursuant to this RFP is contingent upon the approval of the District’s wavier. As set forth below, the District reserves the right to terminate this RFP, and reject any submitted proposal, in the event the District’s waiver is denied, delayed or not approved for any reason.
The District plans to use the proceeds from the Property to acquire a separate property to be used for the District’s new Main Office. Thus, the District plans to coordinate the disposition of the Property with the District’s acquisition of the new Main Office property as a third party exchange arrangement. The terms and conditions of the Respondent’s acquisition of the Property to be established through a written agreement will be coordinated with the District’s acquisition of the new Main Office.
